Architecture, Art, Art 16 and Alex Evans
The geometric drawings of Alex Evans will join the work of two other gallery artists this May at Art 16 in Olympia. Employing techniques from mathematical patterns and formulae shows another dimension for the growing potential of contemporary art and the ways in which static imagery is transforming in the Information Age. The process of recording his works is gaining recognition just as rapidly as his art. Nominated as a finalist for Best Web Artist in the 2016 Shorty Awards, his vines document his working method through timelapses and stills; their effect lies somewhere between the meditative and that of ‘visual caffeine’. Although working with different messages, we can see the way in which Alex and Assemble are part of the new generation of artists expanding modernist and traditional means of making and displaying art.
