Helen Shulkin (b. Belarus) is an emerging artist based in Hamburg, Germany. A graduate of the classical art school, Molodechno, in 2001 she finished a Fine Art and Drawing degree at the Belarusian State University Minsk under professor Shikulov, and since 2015 has lived and worked in Germany. In 2021 Helen founded New Belarus Art non-profit UG to promote emerging Belarusian Artists.
We are delighted to have exclusive access to some of Helen’s exquisite oil paintings which focus on topics close to the gallery’s own ethos of architecture, the built environment and how it can create conversations and affect the lives that inhabit it.
“In the interstitial space where human anatomy converges with architectural anatomy, my work finds its pulse. With each composition, I strive to capture the elusive spirit that animates both the corporeal vessel and the constructs it inhabits. My canvases are not mere paintings; they are vivisections of space and form, revealing the sinews and bones that underpin our built environment.”
