AN OPEN CALL OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A MEMORABLE AND IMPACTFUL ENTRANCE TO OUR EXHIBITION SPACE BY TRANSFORMING OUR BELOVED SHIPPING CONTAINER

For the London Festival of Architecture this June we will be hosting a VR experience in our Forest Hill venue. We want to create a journey from the very minute visitors enter the yard which contains a 20ft shipping container – the perfect blank canvas to welcome, inspire and excite our guests about what awaits inside.

Using the LFA’s theme of Common, the exhibition will use the latest VR headsets to bring visitors closer to the life that lies within our green spaces. Finding themselves as tiny as an insect they will experience a new and unseen vantage point – should they look up however human life will be carrying on as usual and the buildings of the City will form that ever familiar back drop.

The proposal for the shipping container should encapsulate this vision. We are open to all suggestions but please make sure your proposal fits within the below criteria:

  • Budget for all labour, work and materials is up to £750
  • Painting / spraying / covering the shipping container are all possible but MUST be weather resistant – we want this to last beyond the LFA weekend!
  • Proposals that involve cladding or fixing to the container are welcome but the container must remain water tight so no fixings should break through the walls or obstruct the doors at the front.
  • We would like to use the design for promotional material so reproduction for marketing purposes must be allowed.
  • Dimensions are 600cm wide x 255cm high x 240cm deep.
  • You must be able to complete your proposal by 1 June 2023.
  • DEADLINE for submission 10 May 2023
  • Proposals should be sent in pdf or jpeg format and must include information about timeframes, materials, overall cost and how you propose to instal / complete the proposal in time for 1 June 2023.

Proposals to be sent to [email protected] Please keep fil sizes to less than 10MB.
