As technology evolves and develops it is hard not to get swept away with its capabilities and the surrounding excitement. Drawing, however, remains the foundation to many, and it is this that has brought Anise Gallery and AVR London together with the RIBAJ as they launch the 4th Eye Line global competition this April.

The competition showcases the communication of an idea or concept through drawing. It can be broad brush, or worked through into the finest details, open to any single or combination of techniques. It is first and foremost a celebration of beauty in architectural illustration.

Having had immediate success from the outset, Eye Line’s scope and reach has increased at an astounding rate. Launched in 2013 “on a wing and a prayer” (Hugh Pearman) its judges included leading contemporary artist Cornelia Parker and noted draughtsperson Narinder Sagoo of Foster + Partners.

Fast forward to 2016 and our studio neighbours AVR London have partnered with RIBAJ for this acclaimed competition. Sharing our desire to encourage, recognise and display the best drawings by practitioners and students alike it provides a welcome platform to share for the first time the exquisite skills of past entrants within a gallery setting.

Images from past winners and runners-up will be on display in the gallery from Thursday 7 – 28 April 2016.

Call for entries are open

“I’m especially pleased to welcome AVR London the RIBAJ’s Eye Line partner this year. Architect-led, this is a company that is in the business of very high quality architectural visualisation. They work with big names and rising stars alike. Like us, they want to encourage, recognise and – through their Anise Gallery – display the best drawings by practitioners and students. I’m greatly looking forward to our partnership.”
