An exhibition like no other… specially curated for the 1st April 2026
This Spring Anise Gallery are bringing you the first underwater exhibition. Experience the beauty of diffracted light in a setting like no other, walk through the light and inhabit the rainbow.
Sub-Immersion explores perception, distortion and the fluid nature of reality. Underwater light bends, slows and fractures – turning simple forms into complex illusions. The exhibition features sculptural works which transform natural refraction into a constantly shifting visual experience – no two visits ever look the same.
The bespoke 250,000 litre tank can take up to 4 people at a time along with all dive equipment provided. Timed slots allow for up to 30 minutes in the tank – no diving experience is necessary. Following a gradual descent into the tank, visitors are free to explore as they wish. As senses are altered from the day to day norm, the effects of the art work take on a new reality.
The liquid in the tank contains micro-particles designed to further enhance the diffraction of light, and the specially adapted dive helmets provide augmented heads-up displayed information on the artists, artwork and physics behind the exhibition. Not into diving, don’t worry – a full VR journey filmed in 360 stereo (from the tank itself) is available from the safety of dry land.
Fully qualified dive instructors are on hand at all times.
Unfortunately all available time slots are now sold out.
Thanks to AVR London who used modified meta quest 3 headsets to create the incredible augmented headset display providing information on the art work and experience itself.
