In July we welcomed the School of Speculation summer school to the gallery.
Describing themselves as “a nomadic design school”, the SOS travels “between schools and existing pedagogical institutions to form a new model of affordable, independent and critical thought.”
For their 2019 summer programme, SOS teamed up with Anise Gallery, the South London Gallery and the Design Museum to host a series of talks and events.
Across two Thursdays in July, we hosted talks from Ed Fornieles and Daisy Ginsberg.
With Ed we explored the nature of “critical design” in relation to his various performances, whilst Daisy spoke to us about the role of design in addressing various contemporary issues such as the climate emergency.
We really enjoyed hosting both Daisy and Ed and we look forward to working with the School of Speculation again sometime in the future. You can keep up to date with their various activities on their website, Twitter and Instagram.
